Most people already know that Michael Jackson, the king of pop music, is the best-selling music artist of all time. He has sold more than 300 million records worldwide, and has been deemed the most innovative and creative musician ever!

But here are ten things very people know about his childhood:

#1 - At the age of just 3, his family started to notice that he was an amazing singer.

#2 - He gave his first public performance at the age of 5, singing "Climb Every Mountain" at his elementary school.

#3 - At the age of 8, he was promoted to joint lead vocals in the family band, which later became the Jackson 5 (originally the Jackson Brothers).

#4 - At the age of 10, he performed with his brothers at local strip clubs, which was their father's desperate attempt to get them publicity and generate income.

#5 - At the age of 11, he and his brothers were signed by Berry Gorry's Motown Records, and Suzanne de Passe was hired to become their mentor.

#6 - That same year, they performed as the opening act for The Supremes.

#7 - At age 12, he and his brothers released their very first single "I Want You Back", which went on to top the Billboard Hot 100.
